About the Macular Society
Macular disease is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK, with around 300 people diagnosed every day. We're the only UK charity determined to beat the fear and isolation of macular disease through:
- World class research to find new treatments and a cure
- Practical support for people affected by sight loss
- Trusted advice and support services that empower those living with macular disease.
Become a trustee
We’re on the hunt for new trustees to join our Board.
Our trustees are responsible for setting our long-term organisational strategy and ensuring that we’re well-run and works as effectively as possible.
If you share our mission to Beat Macular Disease, we’d love to hear from you.
In particular, we’re looking for candidates who have skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Lived experience of macular disease, including as a family member of carer of someone with macular disease
- Senior leadership experience in a complex organisation, ideally within the health or charity sectors
- Experience as an eye health professional
- Experience in risk management, governance or safeguarding
We’re interested to hear from applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds, who’ll bring a wealth of expertise and experience to the Board.
